Baylor’s Davion Mitchell To Work Out With Warriors

Baylor guard and NBA Draft lottery prospect Davion Mitchell will work out for the Warriors on Thursday, according to Jason Dumas of KRON News.Davion Mitchell

The Warriors own the Nos. 7 and 14 overall picks, and Mitchell is considered a likely top-10 selection, coming off a national championship at Baylor. He averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 30 games.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman recently addressed the prospect of Mitchell to the Warriors on the Light Years podcast.

“I know that there are reports that the Warriors like Davion,” Wasserman said. “But from people I know — not everybody likes him there. Not everybody thinks of him as a top-10 pick. Now that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t take him at seven … [but] I haven’t put him to the Warriors at all in my mocks. I could be wrong.

“But I know for a fact that not everybody in the organization thinks that he’s a good pick at seven.”

  1. That’s a front office grounded in reality. If you can get an instant 6th or 7th man spark plug talent who can help a team compete for Championships for cheap in years to come, seems smart to take that opportunity. If he turns out to be even better than that expectation, not a bad problem to have.

Warriors don’t oversell anybody’s potential, as we see with Wiggins and Oubre. I love that. It’s what guys CAN do that is valued. Drafting Draymond Green another example.
