Blazers’ Norman Powell To Decline Player Option

Trail Blazers guard Norman Powell intends to turn down his $11.6 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.Norma Powell

Powell, 28, is 6-foot-3 and appeared in 27 games with Portland after being acquired in a March trade with the Raptors. He averaged 17.0 points and 3.3 rebounds with the Blazers.

Overall, he averaged 18.5 points and shot 41 percent on 3-pointers, his best season to date.

Powell is expected to “have multiple suitors with the Trail Blazers, making re-signing the high-flying guard a top priority,” Haynes reported.

He was often used as a third guard alongside the starting backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, but there is no doubt about the Blazers’ desire to bring Powell back.
