Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard Remains Out For Game 1 Vs. Suns

Clippers star forward Kawhi Leonard will not travel to Phoenix for Game 1 of the Western Conference finals as he continues to nurse his ailing right knee, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.Kawhi Leonard

The Suns and Clippers begin their series Sunday afternoon (TNT, 3:30 p.m. ET). Leonard missed the final two games of the semifinal series vs. the Jazz, both won by the Clippers.

Leonard suffered the injury as he planted to make a move on a drive to the basket in Game 4 vs, Utah. He did not finish that game.

Leonard, 29, averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists during the regular season and has been even better in the playoffs. Against the Jazz, he’s averaged 27.3 points and 7.5 boards.

Meanwhile, the Suns are likely to still be without point guard Chris Paul, who is in the NBA’s health and safety protocol.
