Leonard stayed in Los Angeles to rehab his ailing right knee for Game 1, a 120-114 Suns victory. He has now missed three straight games, dating back to the previous series vs. the Jazz.

Leonard suffered the injury as he planted to make a move on a drive to the basket in Game 4. He did not finish that game.

Leonard, 29, averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists during the regular season and has been even better in the playoffs. Against the Jazz, he averaged 27.3 points and 7.5 boards.

Game 2 is set for Tuesday night on ESPN, with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m. EST.

The Suns last appeared in the Finals in 1993, while the Clippers haven’t made it once since their inception as the Buffalo Braves in 1970. They moved from Buffalo to San Diego in 1978, then to LA in 1984.
