Okobo, 23, is 6-foot-3 and was selected by the Suns with the first pick of the second round (No. 31 overall) in the 2018 draft. He appeared in 53 games as rookie with the Suns, compiling averages of 5.7 points and 2.4 assists.
“He is a player that we have followed for many years, and whose game has always appealed to us,” former Spurs guard and current ASVEL president Tony Parker said in a statement. “Seeing him leave the United States and choose our club to return to France is another strong sign, that our project makes sense and speaks to French players who want to be involved.”
Okobo has also spent time in the G League with the Northern Arizona Suns, as well as the Long Island Nets last season. He played for French club Pau-Orthez for three years (2015-18) before coming to the NBA.
