Big news for North Carolina Tar Heel fans yesterday. 2024 star recruit Elliot Cadeau announced he will reclassify and join UNC next season.
The Tar Heels had a very interesting 2022-2023 season. Things continue to be interesting for head coach Hubert Davis. After starting the season as the preseason number one ranked team, UNC failed expectations and did not make the NCAA tournament. They declined to participate in the NIT tournament.
Over the next few months, the Tar Heels had seven players enter the transfer portal. Instability in Chapel Hill is not something the fans and UNC program are used to. Yet slowly and quietly, Davis and his staff have rebuilt next years team into one that should be competitive and potentially very good. Especially with the addition of Elliot Cadeau.
Cadeau was ranked as the number 10 overall prospect in the 2024 ESPN 100 rankings. He will now graduate early and join a Tar Heel team that can really use the presence of a true point guard. That is exactly what Cadeau is. He made the announcement official on his social media account yesterday.

Cadeua is the complete package. He can score the ball, defend, rebound and has the vision of a true point guard. Many compare him to other Tar Heel greats like Kendall Marshall, Marcus Paige, Ty Lawson or a combination of all of them. Although RJ Davis returns to the Tar Heels, he is more of a shooting guard that was saddled with running the team the last two seasons. Cadeau will allow Davis to move to a two spot and be more of a scorer than a facilitator.
UNC still has two available scholarships and will look to add depth before next season.
