Thomas, 33, is 5-foot-9 and has bounced around the league a lot since leading the Eastern Conference in scoring in 2018 with the Celtics. He has since spent time with the Cavaliers, Lakers (twice), Nuggets, Pelicans and Wizards.

He also signed a 10-day deal with the Mavericks earlier this season, but immediately entered health and safety protocols and appeared in just one game.

Along with all that, Thomas has stood out in the G League this year, averaging a sizzling 41 points in three games with the Grand Rapids Gold.

His last productive NBA season came in 2019-20, when he averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists in 40 games with Washington.

The Hornets are battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and Thomas will get every opportunity to help fill in behind starters LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier.
