Jalen Green To Limit Draft Workouts To Pistons And Rockets

G League Ignite shooting guard Jalen Green will only conduct individual workouts with the Pistons and Rockets, per Jonathan Givony and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Jalen Green

The Pistons and Rockets, of course, own the Nos. 1 and 2 picks in next week’s NBA Draft, respectively. Green is not expected to drop past the Cavaliers at No. 3.

While he may not work out for the Cavs and other teams, he could possibly interview with more than just the Pistons and Rockets, if he hasn’t already.

Many around the NBA have Green pegged as a potential superstar, someone with dynamic playmaking skills who can score in a number of ways. He averaged 17.9 points last season in the G League bubble.

While the Pistons are widely expected to draft Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham first overall, the Rockets are likely deciding between Green and Gonzaga guard Jalen Suggs, per Zach Harper of The Athletic.

“League sources have said Houston is heavily leaning toward Jalen Green there, but there are people within the Rockets’ decision-making process pushing for Jalen Suggs out of Gonzaga,” Harper wrote.

“Green’s potential as a star wing in this league has the Rockets’ focus, but the idea of Suggs grabbing the momentum at some point exists. Scouts and executives love his size at the point guard position and believe he can be the leader of a young, rebuilding team.”

Along with his scoring, Green averaged 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists and shooting 46 percent from the floor in 15 G League games. You can check out the full Hoops Wire mock draft here.

The NBA Draft is scheduled for July 29 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
