James Harden Set To Debut For 76ers Versus Timberwolves

The Philadelphia 76ers are eager to showcase their latest addition in point guard James Harden after loading a haul of picks to Brooklyn in a massive trade.

Announced by The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania, Harden will be active for his first games in a 76ers jersey against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

The 76ers won three of their last four games (35-23) prior to the All-Star break, climbing to the third spot in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit 2.5 games behind the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls.

On Feb. 10, Philadelphia traded away Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks to acquire Harden from the Brooklyn Nets to up their contention in the postseason.

Harden averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 10.2 assists in 44 games with the Nets. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Harden comprised some of the fiercest competition out of the East, but injuries kept the lineup from developing chemistry.

The trio only appeared in 17 games together since assembling in 2021.

Philadelphia big man Joel Embiid and Harden are expected to become a formidable duo coming out of the East. Embiid is leading an MVP-type campaign: averaging 29.6 points and 11.2 rebounds this season.
