Lakers Hiring David Fizdale As Assistant Coach

The Lakers are nearing a deal to hire former Knicks and Grizzlies coach David Fizdale as an assistant under Frank Vogel, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.David Fizdale

Fizdale, 47, was also a longtime assistant under Erik Spoelstra with the Heat, where Fizdale and current Lakers star LeBron James formed a strong bond with the original Big Three of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Fizdale, 47, has also been an assistant with the Warriors and Hawks. He compiled a 71-134 record with the Grizzlies and Knicks in just more than three seasons overall. He last coached in the 2018-19 season.

The Lakers are looking to replace Jason Kidd, who left to become head coach of the Mavericks.
