Orlando President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced the signing of the Princeton product on Tuesday, reuniting Cannady with the Magic after first joining the team back in November 2020.
Cannady started 2021 by joining the Lakeland Magic in January, then signing a two-way contract with Orlando on April 2021. After fracturing his ankle in a game against the Indiana Pacers weeks later, the 6-foot-1 guard was waived by Orlando. During his eight appearances for the Magic in 2020-21, Cannady averaged 4.3 points on a measly 9.3 minutes per game.
As part of the Lakeland Magic, leading up to his first stint with Orlando, Cannady helped the G League squad reach the championship and win it all — which also led to his crowning as MVP in the final game.
During his time with the Lakeland Magic, Cannady averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists — while putting up 22 against the Delaware Blue Coats to seal the championship trophy and MVP honors.
According to the Columbia Missourian, undrafted center Tilmon will plan on joining Lakeland following news of his status on waivers. The Mizzou product averaged 9.7 points and 5.4 rebounds during his collegiate career. Tilmon was first signed by the Magic on Oct. 7.
