Mavericks Have Jazz Point Guard Mike Conley On Radar

Jazz point guard Mike Conley Jr. will be on the Mavericks’ radar once he hits free agency this summer, per John Hollinger of The Athletic.Mike Conley

More specifically, Hollinger said on the Hollinger & Duncan NBA Show (via ClutchPoints) that the Mavs will be a “team to watch” for Conley.

Conley, 33, averaged 16.2 points and 6.0 assists, shooting a career-high 41.2 percent on 3-pointers while making his first All-Star Game appearance. The Jazz finished with the league’s best record, but were eliminated by the Clippers in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Conley was injured for much of the series, missing all but the final game with a hamstring issue.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks recently hired Jason Kidd as coach and former Nike executive Nico Harrison as general manager. They could have plenty of available cap space, and reportedly will pursue Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard if he enters free agency.

Their primary goal will be to add more talent around star guard Luka Doncic following another first-round playoff exit. Doncic is expected to sign a supermax contract extension.
