Nets star Kyrie Irving has been ruled out for Game 5 vs. the Bucks on Tuesday after suffering a sprained right ankle on Sunday, coach Steve Nash said.
Irving suffered the injury in the first half of Game 4 after landing on the foot of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. The teams meet again Tuesday at the Barclays Center and the series is tied at 2 games apiece.
Nash did not want to speculate as to when Irving might return.
“The experts would have to wait and see how it progresses and give you a clearer on what kinda the window would be for his return,” Nash said, via Scott Thompson of SNY.tv.

- Fellow star James Harden will also remain out for Game 5. He hasn’t played since he reaggravated a hamstring injury in the opening minute of Game 1. Nash would only say that Harden has made “progress,” offering no timetable for a return.
- That leaves Kevin Durant as the lone member of the Nets’ Big Three, but he didn’t sound worried. “I picture me doing everything out there just like I do every night,” he told reporters. “Some more than others, I might have to handle the ball more, might have to post up more, just gotta be prepared to do everything out there, just like any night.”
- Veteran forward and glue guy Jeff Green will be needed now more than ever, wrote Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
