Nuggets’ JaMychal Green Declines Player Option

Nuggets forward JaMychal Green is declining the player option on his contract and entering unrestricted free agency this summer, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.JaMychal Green

Green’s player option is worth $7.6 million.

He has been mostly a journeyman up this point, also having spent time with the Clippers, Grizzlies and Spurs.

Green, 31, averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 58 regular-season games this past season, and continued to be a hustling energy guy off the bench in the playoffs.

He becomes the second member of the Nuggets to decline his player option, joining guard Will Barton. Like Barton, Green will be seeking a longer deal — though the Nuggets clearly will make Barton the priority.

“Had he picked up the final year on his contract, Barton would’ve likely been the starting shooting guard for the Nuggets and been showcased in the backcourt while Jamal Murray continues his rehab,” wrote Mike Singer of the Denver Post. “Instead, Barton can now explore his free agency options.”
