Pacers Not Planning To Move On From Kevin Pritchard

While coaching and front office changes have ruled the offseason, it appears Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard is safe, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

“Let me say a few things about Indiana,” Windhorst said on The Hoops Collective podcast. “One, I know Kevin Pritchard, their general manager, came out and gave a press conference and made it sound like his future was in some sort of doubt there. That is no longer the case.

“He has been assured he will be there. I don’t think he was ever really in danger. Herb Simon, who is the owner of the team, is extremely close to him. They have an extremely close relationship. It doesn’t mean they couldn’t make a change. Without going too far, I will say Kevin Pritchard has been assured he’s going to be there.”

Pritchard and the Pacers are looking to replace Nate Bjorkgren, fired as coach after one season. They are believed to be looking for a coach with experience, and former Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle is among those who has been linked to the vacancy.

Former Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts and ex-Magic coach Steve Clifford may also be in the mix.

Pritchard, 53, has been in the Pacers’ front office, with the last four as president/GM.
