Lakers star LeBron James said he is preparing for Game 6 vs. the Suns as if Anthony Davis again won’t be available.
Davis missed Game 5, a 115-85 Lakers blowout loss, with a groin injury. The Suns lead the series, 3-2, with a chance to close out Thursday at Los Angeles.
“My mindset is that he’s not going to be able to play in Game 6. My mindset is as if AD won’t be in the game in Game 6, but if something changes, we’ll go from there,” James told reporters.
More from the Pacific
- A James-led team has never lost in the first round of the playoffs. But the defending champions will need to win two straight just to get to the Western Conference semifinals. “It’s win or go home at this point. You shoot all the bullets you got and throw the gun too,” James said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
- The Suns finished with the West’s second-best record and also seem to like their chances to advance. “There’s nobody that’s scared of the moment,” Suns guard Devin Booker said. “We’re a confident team.” A Game 7, if needed, would be held Saturday night in Phoenix.
- In case you missed it, the Kings have hired Bobby Jackson as coach of their G League franchise in Stockton, Calif. You can check out that full story on HoopsWire here.
