A Detroit native, David had previously served as Pistons assistant GM from 2012-14. Before that, was the team’s director of player personnel from 2007-2012 and also director of scouting, a position he was appointed to in August 2002.

He actually began his career as a video coordinator in 1996 under then-Pistons coach Doug Collins. David has spent the past several years with Wasserman, a sports and entertainment agency.

Edwards initially reported that David had been hired, before clarifying that he had only been offered the job. Edwards then reported that David had merely interviewed and that “nothing is imminent.”

GM Troy Weaver and the Pistons own the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, scheduled for July 29.
