The Rockets have been are exploring ways to land the No. 1 overall pick and Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham in this month’s NBA Draft, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Last week, The Athletic’s Zach Harper wrote that Houston has been “fixated” on Cunningham.
The Rockets currently own the No. 2 overall pick, with the Pistons sitting at No. 1. Recent reports have suggested Detroit likes both G League guard Jalen Green and USC center Evan Mobley, and if that is indeed the case, the Rockets and Pistons might work out a trade or arrangement, so that Houston ends up with Cunningham.
Along with eyeing Cunningham, the Rockets have been floating the name of shooting guard Eric Gordon in trade talks, per Charania. They also have discussed the Pacers’ No. 13 overall pick, wrote J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star.
Gordon, 32, averaged 17.8 points on 43 percent shooting last season, but was limited by injuries just 27 games. He has two years remaining on his contract.
