Following that first season, Karasev was traded to the Nets in a three-team deal with the Celtics. He last played in the NBA in the 2015-16 season. He also played for Zenit from 2016-19.

“I am really happy to join Zenit after its great season in Russia and in the EuroLeague as well,” he said, per a team release, “I am even a little flattered by the attention shown to me by Xavi Pascual, as announced the best coach of the VTB United League. I am looking forward to the start of the training camp, but for now, I will keep practicing individually.”

Pascual was equally excited to add Karasev.

“He is a great player, who will undoubtedly help our team in the next season,” Pascual said. “Over the course of his career, Sergey has proved to be a versatile player, able to play as a shooting guard and a small forward.”
