With the NBA Draft less than a week away, the 76ers are looking to trade their No. 28 overall pick, per Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice.
The 76ers finished with the best record in the Easter Conference and remain in win-now mode. They have been heavily involved in trade talks centered on star guard/forward Ben Simmons, and perhaps their pick will come into play in a potential Simmons deal.
For now, though, anything involving the No. 28 pick “is not contingent or related to the big ongoing discussion” around Simmons, Neubeck wrote.
So all we really know is Sixers chief of basketball operations Daryl Morey and his staff continue to try to build things around Joel Embiid.
As Neubeck noted, the Sixers are also “prepared to continue tinkering around the Embiid/Simmons partnership if that emerges as their best path forward.”
Along with the Sixers, the Raptors (No. 4 overall), Magic (Nos. 5 and 8), Warriors (Nos 7 and 14), Kings (No. 9) and Pacers (No. 13) are among the others who reportedly may look to move their pick in search for immediate help.
The NBA Draft is scheduled for July 29 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
