Sabonis is a two-time All-Star (2020, 2021) and highly coveted name ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline.
The 25-year-old, 6-foot-11 power forward is enjoying an excellent season — averaging 18.2 points, shooting 58.4 percent, with 11.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists. On Nov. 29, Sabonis recorded a triple-double against the Timberwolves with 16 points, 10 assists and nabbed a career-high 25 rebounds.
The Athletic/Stadium’s Shams Charania previously reported the Pacers are in a “rebuild” mode as they shop some of their marquee players. That list includes Sabonis, center Myles Turner and Caris LeVert. The Pacers are “moving toward a substantial rebuild and are expected to open up trade conversations around some of their veteran stalwarts,” said Charania.
As relayed by Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico, “the Cavs have been in talks with the Pacers, presumably about shooting guard Caris LeVert.”
He adds, “the Pacers have also reportedly made shooting guard Caris LeVert available (as well as power forward Domantas Sabonis and center Myles Turner). Apparently, Indiana is looking to move veterans for picks and young players with upside.”
The Pacers are currently 12-16 and 13th in the Eastern Conference — enjoying a three-game win streak. Indiana faces off against the Warriors on Monday.
Sources: The Indiana Pacers are moving toward rebuild, receptive to trade talks centered on Caris LeVert and either Domantas Sabonis or Myles Turner.
