Former Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts, former Magic coach Steve Clifford and current G League Ignite coach Brian Shaw are among those who will interview for the Pacers coaching vacancy, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Team president/GM Kevin Pritchard and the Pacers are starting interviews this week in Chicago, Wojnarowski added.
The Pacers are said to be seeking a coach with experience after parting ways with Nate Bjorkgren after just one season. Bjorkgren had ever been an NBA coach before Indiana. He went 34-38 as the Pacers missed the playoffs and experienced some drama along the way.
Stotts, 63, began coaching the Blazers in 2012 and owns a 402-318 record in Portland. He has also served as head coach of the Bucks and Hawks, and carries a 517-486 record in 13 seasons overall.
The Blazers made the playoffs in eight straight years under Stotts, a product of Bloomington North (Ind.) High School.
Clifford, 59, led the Magic to the Southeast Division title in his first season with the organization in 2018-19. The Magic also made the playoffs in 2020 before entering full rebuild mode late this season.
Overall, he compiled a 96-131 mark in Orlando. He also coached Charlotte five seasons prior to coming to the Magic.
Shaw, 55, is a former NBA point guard and coached the Nuggets from 2013-15, compiling a 56-85 record. He has also been an assistant with the Pacers and Lakers.
While Stotts, Clifford and Shaw have been considered the Pacers’ top candidates for some time, Pritchard is expected to cast a wide net in the coaching search. Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni, linked to the job last offseason, may also be a candidate again. Former Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle is another name to monitor.
