Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Suffers Sprained Ankle

Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards suffered a sprained ankle while playing for the Select Team that is working out with and scrimmaging against the U.S. men’s basketball team, as relayed by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.Anthony Edwards

The injury isn’t believed to be serious, though Edwards will miss the rest of training camp.

The Select Team beat the U.S. men’s basketball team in the scrimmage, Windhorst noted.

Edwards averaged 19.3 points and 4.7 rebounds last season, finishing runner-up to the Hornets’ LaMelo Ball in Rookie of the Year voting. Edwards was selected by the Timberwolves with the No. 1 overall draft pick.

The U.S. men are training for the Tokyo Olympics, which tip off on July 23. Team USA’s first game is scheduled for July 25.
