Cassell was an NBA point guard from 1993-2008, winning two championships with the Rockets in that span (1994 and ’95), and another with the Celtics (’08). He was an assistant with the Wizards from 2009-14, then with the Clippers for six years before following Doc Rivers to the Sixers before the start of the season.

Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard has indicated he would like to hire a coach before the start of free agency.

I think patience is a competitive advantage.”
The Wizards are coming off a first-round playoff loss to the 76ers.
