Wizards Guard Bradley Beal Commits To Team USA

Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal has committed to the U.S. men’s basketball team ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Bradley Beal

Beal joins a list that reportedly already includes Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, Warriors forward Draymond Green and Celtics guard/forward Jayson Tatum.

Other stars such as the Lakers forwards LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Heat wing Jimmy Butler do not intend to play.

Beal, 27, is 6-foot-3 and finished second in the league in scoring at 30.3 points. He also averaged 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

The U.S. men’s basketball team announced 57 finalists for the Olympic roster in March and needs to turn in a 12-man lineup by July 5. No date has been set for the start of training camp in Las Vegas.

Further complicating matters for U.S. coach Gregg Popovich is the fact the Finals start on July 8, with a potential Game 7 set for July 22. The Olympics are scheduled to begin July 23 in Tokyo.
