The Purdue Boilermakers got some big news yesterday as players made their decisions regarding the NBA draft. Really big. Like 7-foot-4 big. Center Zach Edey withdrew his name from the NBA draft and will return for another season.
The National Player of the Year made his decision on Wednesday which will significantly impact Purdue and the BIG10 next season. He simply put “RUN IT BACK” with a gif on his social media account.
Edey averaged 22.9 points and 12.9 rebounds while shooting 60.7% from the field.
His length and athleticism caused matchup problems for almost every team the Boilermakers faced. The announcement is surprising given his size and the lack of dominant centers in the NBA.
Purdue will likely be a top 5 pre-season team and among the top of the polls. Edey will be a senior when he returns next season.
