NBA Trade Idea Sends Giannis Antetokounmpo To Spurs To Play With Victor Wembanyama

If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed that the San Antonio Spurs trade Stephon Castle, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson and four first-round picks for the future Hall of Famer.

The thought of the Spurs having Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox would strike fear into NBA teams.

“An Antetokounmpo-Wembanyama frontcourt might break the game of basketball,” Buckley wrote. “It’d be a truly unfair amalgamation of size, length and skill. The Spurs might mess around and become both the unstoppable force and the immovable object. It’s never quite as simple as this, but for context, if the two bigs simply replicated their stats from this season, the towering twosome would be good for roughly 55 points, 23 rebounds, 10 assists, five blocks and two steals. That’s nightmare fuel for the 29 franchises located outside of the Alamo City.

“It would take an unprecedented level of aggression from the organization to pull this off, but how many chances does a team—based in a non-destination market—get to pair one generational talent with another? The Spurs could shift the league’s balance of power in an instant, and Antetokounmpo might feel they offer him the best chance to contend right now and for years to come.”

The Spurs once had Tim Duncan and David Robinson at the same time. If Antetokounmpo asks out of Milwaukee this summer, San Antonio’s front office would certainly try to acquire the two-time MVP.

Antetokounmpo doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. Only LeBron James and Bradley Beal do.

The Bucks won’t trade Antetokounmpo unless he requests a trade. The two sides are expected to meet soon to talk about the future, per ESPN

Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the Bucks this season. He has spent his entire career in Milwaukee.

A nine-time All-Star, Antetokounmpo will make $54,126,380 next season.
