According to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Golden State Warriors are a “strong contender” to sign De’Anthony Melton.
Melton played in six games with the Warriors last season before tearing his left ACL.
Golden State traded Melton to the Brooklyn Nets in December.
The Warriors have emerged as a strong contender to bring back De’Anthony Melton in free agency, league sources tell @TheSteinLine, in addition to Golden State’s well-chronicled interest in signing Al Horford.

Melton averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season while shooting 40.7% from the field, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 62.5% from the free-throw line.
Melton, 27, has played for the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia 76ers and Warriors. He has career NBA averages of 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
The Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 and missed the rest of the series.
Golden State hasn’t made a move this offseason yet. They are currently dealing with Jonathan Kuminga‘s restricted free agency.
Along with Melton, the Warriors have been linked to Al Horford, who will not re-sign with the Boston Celtics, and Bradley Beal, who will get bought out by the Phoenix Suns soon.
Golden State acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat last season after Butler requested a trade from the Heat. The Warriors went 23-7 with Butler in the lineup.
