According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Atlanta Hawks are trying to trade Clint Capela.
Stein also reported that several teams are interested in Larry Nance Jr.
The Hawks acquired Nance Jr. from the New Orleans Pelicans in the Dejounte Murray trade.
“The Hawks have been trying to trade Clint Capela for more than a year, but league sources say that the Atlanta big man drawing the most external interest is newly acquired Larry Nance Jr. Word is Nance, who came to the Hawks in the recent Dejounte Murray trade, is being chased by multiple teams in need of proven size,” Stein wrote.
Capela will make $22.3 million next season in the final year of his contract. He averaged 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.5 blocks in 2023-24 while shooting 57.1% from the field and 63.1% from the free-throw line. He had 38 double-doubles.
Capela has career averages of 12.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 blocks with the Houston Rockets and Hawks. He was the 25th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Nance Jr. averaged 5.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.3 blocks in 2023-24 while shooting 57.3% from the field, 41.5% from 3 and 77.0% from the foul line. He’ll make $11.3 million next season in the final year of his contract.
Nance Jr. has career averages of 7.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Pelicans. He was the 27th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Atlanta is rebuilding after trading Murray. The franchise could trade Trae Young next after drafting Zaccharie Risacher with the first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
