Suggs is viewed as a foundational piece in Orlando alongside Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

One of the best defenders in the NBA, Suggs averaged 12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks for the Magic last season while shooting 47.1% from the field, 39.7% from beyond the arc and 75.6% from the free-throw line.

The Magic went 47-35 in 2023-24. They lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2024 playoffs in seven games.

Suggs was the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Gonzaga. The 23-year-old has career averages of 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks.

The Magic are expected to make the playoffs again next season. They signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a three-year deal in free agency.

Caldwell-Pope averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks in 2023-24 for the Denver Nuggets while shooting 46.0% from the field, 40.6% from beyond the arc and 89.4% from the foul line.

Caldwell-Pope has played for the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Nuggets. He holds career averages of 11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks.

KCP is a two-time NBA champion. He won the 2020 title with the Lakers at the Walt Disney World bubble and the 2023 title with the Nuggets.

“We are thrilled to add a player like Kentavious to our team,” Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman said. “He is not only an outstanding defender and an excellent shooter, he brings high character and a championship pedigree to our backcourt. We’re very excited to welcome Kentavious to the Orlando Magic family.”
