Anonymous NBA Player Rips Rudy Gobert: ‘How Does This Guy Keep Getting Paid?’

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed Rudy Gobert to a three-year, $110 million contract extension.

Gobert declined his $46.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season and received a new contract and one NBA player — who wants to stay anonymous — doesn’t understand how the Timberwolves big man keeps getting paid.

“How does this guy keep getting paid,” the anonymous NBA player told Hoops Wire. “He one of the worst offensive players in the league. He got no moves in the post. He can’t guard any of the top centers in the league. You see what AD (Anthony Davis) did to him last night? Barbecue chicken man. This dude is a*s man.”

The Timberwolves lost to the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night by a final score of 110-103. Davis went off for 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, one steal and three blocks while shooting 11-of-23 from the field, 1-of-3 from beyond the arc and 13-of-15 from the free-throw line.

Gobert has won the Defensive Player of the Year Award four times. However, many players in the NBA don’t respect him.

“Ain’t no way this dude should have four Defensive Player of the Years,” the anonymous NBA player told Hoops Wire. “You put him on an island with any of the top guards and he getting cooked. He’s trash bro. You can’t even throw the ball to him in the post and ask him to score cuz he ain’t got any moves. Minny should have traded his bum a*s instead of KAT (Karl-Anthony Towns).

After the Timberwolves lost to the Lakers, here’s what Gobert said about his contract extension:

“I think it was about finding a win-win situation. I’m happy here. My family is happy here. I want to win a championship here. And also, my next year’s contract was really high. So about to allow the team to keep our guys and also that was the win for the Timberwolves. But to keep me for a longer term was great for both of us. And also just giving me more stability long term I think was what we were looking for. So I’m really grateful, I’m really happy and now the goal is still the same. Regardless if we would have had a deal or not, the goal is to win a championship.”

  1. When real journalists cite anonymous sources, and protect anonymous sources.. it’s usually because some piece of valuable information is being shared. Something of significance happened, affect others, and if knowledge of the source gets out, there could be consequences.

So what the heck is this? You’re using an anonymous source to share an opinion?

So anytime an NBA player shares an opinion on another NBA player, he gets to have it published, and gets to hide his name behind a journalist?

This is the lowest of the low, journalistically. And you just keep going lower. Trying to stir the pot using he said she said and anonymity is a recipe for fake tabloid troll trash.

This isn’t my opinion by the way.. I’m citing another anonymous reader. Just passing it along.
