Report: Spurs Checked In To Gauge Price Tag On Brandon Ingram

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the San Antonio Spurs checked in to gauge the price tag on New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram

The Pelicans are expected to trade Ingram before the February 6 trade deadline.

“The Spurs previously checked in to gauge the price tag on Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote. “Talks, however, were described as exploratory interest.”

Ingram has only appeared in 18 games this season for the Pelicans due to injuries. He’s averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 85.5% from the free-throw line.

A one-time All-Star, Ingram is making $36 million this season in the final year of his contract. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The 27-year-old Ingram has played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Pelicans. He has career averages of 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.6 blocks.

The Spurs are trying to get more talent around Victor Wembanyama. According to Scotto, Keldon Johnson is a player several NBA executives are monitoring as a potential trade candidate if the Spurs acquire De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings in a multi-team trade before the deadline.

Fox has not requested a trade from the Kings, but he prefers to get traded to the Spurs.

“The prevailing belief within league circles is that Fox is eyeing the San Antonio Spurs looking ahead toward his free agency,” Scotto wrote. “The Spurs have max cap space for the summer of 2026 as Fox will enter unrestricted free agency. San Antonio also has young assets in Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle, along with up to nine future first-round picks to dangle. It’s also worth noting Fox’s wife, Recee, grew up in San Antonio.”

If Fox earns a spot on one of the league’s All-NBA teams, he would be eligible for a five-year supermax worth a projected $345 million in new money next summer.
