During an interview with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, Bronny James opened up about his first NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James split time between the Lakers and South Bay Lakers.
“I was under a lot of pressure,” James said. “It was getting to me a little bit. Keeping my head down and working. Working is a distraction from everything. I love just coming into the gym and working and talking to my coaches and watching film. All of the stuff that can help me get better every day. It’s a distraction from all of that stuff. So, just going to continue to do that and see where it takes me. It’s going good so far.”
James averaged 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.3 blocks in the G League while shooting 38.0% from beyond the arc.
His best game in the NBA was against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 20. He had 17 points and five assists in 29 minutes while shooting 70.0% from the field and 50.0% from 3.
James had a blast playing with his dad, LeBron James.
“It’s a blessing,” Bronny said about playing with LeBron. “Being able to learn from him, not only as a player, but as a dad. It’s a different type of relationship. I try to take full advantage of it because it’s something that a lot of people can’t have. It was an amazing experience for me. And I’m looking forward to learning more from him, if he’s still here or not, either way. But I’m just looking forward to it.
“However long he can come back for, it’s always a pleasure being around him. He’s locked in. The stuff he does for his body and the preparation and stuff like that, I want to take full advantage of it.”
LeBron, 40, has a player option for next season. It’s unknown if he will be back with the Lakers or retire.
