According to NBA reporter Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Golden State Warriors are interested in trading for Cameron Johnson and Bruce Brown.
Johnson plays for the Brooklyn Nets, while Brown is on the Toronto Raptors.
“Johnson is a player Golden State has shown interest in, sources said,” Siegel reported. “Johnson averaged 13.4 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range last season. No serious trade discussions have been held between Brooklyn and Golden State this month.
“Brown is another player the Warriors have expressed interest in dating back to last season. The Raptors are going to be aggressive in the trade market with Brown this upcoming year, as he was one of the key names they got back in return from the Indiana Pacers for Pascal Siakam. After proving to be an instrumental part of the Denver Nuggets’ championship run in 2023, Brown can bring a lot of secondary value to many teams around the league right now.”
The Nets acquired Johnson from the Phoenix Suns in the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade during the 2022-23 season.
Johnson appeared in 58 games for the Nets in 2023-24. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 44.6% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 78.9% from the free-throw line.
Johnson, 28, has career averages of 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Suns and Nets.
A UNC product, Johnson will make $23.6 million next season. He signed a four-year, $94.5 million contract with the Nets in July 2023.
The Raptors picked up Brown’s 2024-25 team option worth $23 million and are trying to trade him.
Brown played for the Indiana Pacers and Raptors this past season. He averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 47.8% from the field, 32.3% from beyond the arc and 82.4% from the free-throw line.
A one-time NBA champion, Brown has career averages of 8.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Detroit Pistons, Nets, Denver Nuggets, Pacers and Raptors.
