Anthony played 412 games with the Knicks during his career. His last season in the league was 2021-22 with the Los Angeles Lakers.
One of the greatest players of all time, Anthony averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists with the Denver Nuggets, Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Lakers. He made 10 All-Star teams and six All-NBA teams and won the 2012-13 scoring title.
Although Anthony never reached the Finals, he’s one of the best playoff performers ever. Melo averaged 23.1 points in the postseason with the Nuggets, Knicks, Thunder and Blazers.
During an interview with Zion Olojede of Complex in 2023, Anthony opened up about not winning an NBA title during his career.
“No, it don’t bother me because the game changed and the culture of the game changed,” Carmelo Anthony said. “It was like in the ’80s, ’90s, when it was about ring culture. I think now it’s the money. It’s the bag, It’s let me go get 200 (million) and rightfully so. But the focus is not just rings no more, you know what I mean?”
Anthony didn’t win a title like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the three superstars who were in the 2003 NBA Draft with him. However, Melo is still an NBA icon.
“(Charles) Barkley is who he is. You know, Reggie (Miller) is who he is. We are who we are,” Anthony said. “So because we didn’t get win the NBA championship, we shouldn’t get credit? Like we should just be dismissed on everything? So I will always kind of disagree with that but as far as ring culture, I think people understand that not everybody can win it.”
