Cavaliers Urged To Sign Victor Oladipo

Victor Oladipo was part of a well-attended private workout in Las Vegas on Monday and impressed many people, according to Jeremy Woo of ESPN

Oladipo last appeared in an NBA game in 2023 with the Miami Heat. He tore his left patellar tendon in a playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Andy Quach of SI thinks the Cavaliers should sign Oladipo, who posted on July 13 that he wants to return to the NBA.

“At this point in the offseason, Cleveland shouldn’t be looking for a solid-but-unspectacular innings-eater,” Quach wrote. “Instead, they should be using their two open roster spots to swing for the fences in hopes of adding somebody who can significantly raise their ceiling and potentially help lead them to a championship. Victor Oladipo could be that guy.”

Oladipo played in 42 games for the Heat in 2022-23. He averaged 10.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Oladipo is 33 years old. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets and Heat, compiling career averages of 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

The Cavaliers lost Ty Jerome to the Memphis Grizzlies in free agency. They could use a microwave scorer off the bench next season, a role Oladipo could fill.

Cleveland lost to Indiana in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in five games despite being the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Koby Altman, who got a contract extension this offseason, traded Isaac Okoro to the Chicago Bulls for Lonzo Ball and signed Larry Nance Jr.
