Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith and Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart have been named “dream trade targets” for the Cleveland Cavaliers by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report.
The Cavaliers need to upgrade their roster this summer after losing to the Indiana Pacers in the conference semifinals in five games despite being the No. 1 seed in the East.
Cleveland hasn’t advanced past the conference semifinals since acquiring Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz in 2022.
“The Cavaliers have one of the best trade chips in all of basketball in Evan Mobley if they want to make a run at pairing Antetokounmpo with Mitchell and Darius Garland. Staying patient with the 23-year-old Defensive Player of the Year is likely what the Cavs will end up doing, although it would be foolish not to at least check the asking price for the two-time MVP,” Swartz wrote. “If the Cavs prefer to keep the core intact and want to add some toughness and defense around the edges, more affordable options are available.
“Finney-Smith would be a superb 3-and-D starting power forward if Jarrett Allen is traded and the Cavaliers move Mobley to center. Stewart is one of the toughest players in the NBA who could start alongside Mobley or serve as a third big in this rotation.”
Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for the Bucks this season. He made the All-NBA First Team. Milwaukee lost to the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs in five games.
Finney-Smith played for the Brooklyn Nets and Lakers this season. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks. The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the postseason in five games.
Finally, Stewart averaged 6.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.4 blocks for the Pistons this season. Detroit lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs in six games.
Antetokounmpo will make $54,126,380 next season, Finney-Smith has a player option worth $15,378,480 and Stewart will make $15,000,000.
