NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo told COSMOTE TV broadcasters Vassilis Skountis and Rigas Dardalis that he wouldn’t ever request a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks.
Antetokounmpo has said multiple times he wants to retire with the Bucks.
“NBA is business,” Antetokounmpo said. “If I got traded, I would do my job, but I don’t think that I would ever text (and ask for a trade). I am not this kind of guy. They would have to kick me out. A lot of people don’t know me. A lot of people know me through things that they read or they watch me on TV. A lot of people see what other players do and assume I might do the same. But I’m going to be very honest with you, I’ve done what I said I would do since Day 1. And it hasn’t changed.
“That’s why God blesses me and puts me in position to wake up every single day to do what I love. Now at the end of the day, I’m not going to be given a championship, but I have the opportunity. Some people don’t even have the opportunity to wake up and think about a championship or think about going out there and competing in an NBA game. But at the end of the day, to answer your question, it’s OK that people don’t believe in me. A lot of people did not believe in me. Growing up, that’s not going to change.”
Antetokounmpo is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He’s a two-time MVP and a one-time Finals MVP.
The Bucks won the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games.
Antetokounmpo signed a three-year, $175 million extension with Milwaukee in October 2023. He can become an unrestricted free agent in 2027 if he declines his 2027-28 player option worth $62,786,601.
A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo has career averages of 23.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks. He’s one of three players in NBA history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.
