Report: Pacers Don’t Want To Trade Myles Turner

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Indiana Pacers don’t want to trade veteran center Myles Turner

Turner is in the final year of his contract. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

“The Pacers’ phones are undeniably ringing with interest in Myles Turner,” Stein wrote. “That was inevitable with Turner just months away from unrestricted free agency now. Yet the prevailing leaguewide sense, one week out from the trade buzzer, is that the Pacers do not want to trade Turner. There is a strong belief among some league personnel that Indiana would need to see proposals that return a starting-level center to even consider the notion.

The Pacers are 26-20 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Turner is averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 blocks this season while shooting 47.9% from the field, 39.3% from beyond the arc and 74.6% from the free-throw line.

Indiana reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season. The Boston Celtics swept the Pacers on their way to winning the title against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Pacers drafted Turner with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Texas product has career averages of 14.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.2 blocks. He’s led the league in blocks per game twice.

Turner was almost traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022 and 2023.

“How much Indiana is willing to spend to re-sign Turner obviously remains a popular question around the league,” Stein wrote. “The Pacers, though, clearly relish how things have been going since the calendar flipped.”
