Siakam becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

“The prevailing notion around the league is Indiana will look to re-sign forward Pascal Siakam in free agency to a max contract and extend point guard TJ McConnell,” Scotto wrote.

The Pacers acquired Siakam from the Toronto Raptors in January. The NBA champion averaged 21.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks in 41 games with Indiana while shooting 54.9% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 69.9% from the free-throw line.

A two-time All-Star, Siakam has career averages of 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Raptors and Pacers. He has made two All-NBA teams.

Siakam also won the 2018-19 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.

The Pacers beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2024 playoffs and the New York Knicks in the second round before losing to the Boston Celtics in the conference finals. Indiana has a bright future with Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton leading the way.

“Obviously, it’s a big deal to bring Pascal back,” Haliburton said after the Pacers’ season ended. “Just a great addition to our team and an amazing, amazing player. He knows I’ll be texting him nonstop, calling him nonstop. We all would love to have Pascal back and that’s definitely the plan.

“I can’t speak for the man by any means, but I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure Pascal Siakam is in a Pacer uniform next year. And I’m excited to begin that recruiting process I guess, but just to have him as my teammate for the foreseeable future. Hopefully for the rest of his career.”

Siakam helped the Raptors win the 2019 championship against the Golden State Warriors. It will be fascinating to see if he can help the Pacers win a championship.
