Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss recently said that LeBron James might be the greatest player in NBA history.
LeBron, 39, is the oldest player in the NBA. He turns 40 in December.
“I mean, LeBron, the way he played at the Olympics? He might be the greatest of all time,” Buss told The Los Angeles Times. “He consistently delivers. He puts in the work. He’s not only a worldwide brand, but he is our leader. He’s the captain of our team and he sets the tone, sets the pace by putting in the hard work. Nobody can complain about the work if you see somebody with his résumé and his longevity of career, nobody can complain about having to practice if he’s willing to do it. And he does. He just amazes me. I don’t know what else to say.”
LeBron averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks for the Lakers last season in 71 games while shooting 54.0% from the field, 41.0% from 3 and 75.0% from the free-throw line. He’s still an elite force despite being close to 40.
A future Hall of Famer, LeBron has career averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Lakers. He’s a four-time MVP, a four-time champion and a four-time Finals MVP.
LeBron, who grew up idolizing Michael Jordan, is first in NBA history in points, fourth in assists, eighth in steals, second in field goals, eighth in 3-point field goals, fifth in triple-doubles, seventh in points per game and third in player efficiency rating.
LeBron is the only player in NBA history to rank top five all-time in points and assists, the only player to win three Finals MVPs with three different teams, the only player with 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists and the only player to score 40,000 points.
The Lakers won the 2020 title against the Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble behind LeBron.

The woman selling LeBron jerseys, Lakers gear, Lakers tickets, and other franchise money makers said that??
What???
Unbelievable.
And how would we know if there wasn’t an article about it?
This is why I come here. It’s for the LeBron James promotions. Can’t get this anywhere else. This is real news.
The news here is that she hadn’t said it before now.
Yes, he’s done some great things more recently, but he’d already done enough well before now to say ‘he MIGHT be the greatest,’ since ‘might’ leaves the issue open that maybe he isn’t. Did the Olympics really move the needle? Sure, maybe a little, but more like a cherry on the top.
