Wall lives in Miami and is close friends with Heat star Bam Adebayo. The Kentucky product is in NBA shape, so it will be interesting to see if Pat Riley signs him.
The Washington Wizards drafted Wall with the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. During his prime, Wall was one of the best players in the league. He made five All-Star teams, one All-NBA team and one All-Defensive team with the Wizards.
However, injuries derailed Wall’s career. The North Carolina native missed the entire 2019-20 season after playing in just 32 games in 2018-19. The Wizards traded Wall to the Houston Rockets in December 2020.
Wall finished his Wizards career with averages of 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks. He’s one of the top players in franchise history.
In 2020-21, Wall played 40 games for the Rockets. He averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks.
Wall sat out the entire 2021-22 season despite being healthy. The Rockets were in rebuild mode, so Wall and the organization reached a mutual decision for him not to play.
In the offseason of 2022, the Rockets waived Wall, who signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. Wall appeared in 34 games with the Clippers last season. He averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks.
The Clippers traded Wall back to the Rockets in February 2023. Houston waived Wall, who wasn’t picked up by a team.
One of the quickest players in NBA history during his prime, Wall holds career averages of 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Wizards, Rockets and Clippers. He’s eighth all-time in assists per game.
The Heat are 35-29. They are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
