Kawhi Leonard Has Adductor Strain, Won’t Play In Clippers-Warriors Game

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will not play against the Golden State Warriors tomorrow (2/14).

Leonard is dealing with a left adductor strain.

Leonard has appeared in 48 games this season. He’s averaging 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 52.7% from the field, 45.3% from beyond the arc and 89.1% from the free-throw line.

The Clippers are 35-17. They are in third place in the Western Conference standings.

Leonard, who has won two championships and two Finals MVPs, believes the Clippers have been winning games “off talent.” The future Hall of Famer thinks he and his teammates need to do a better job of executing head coach Tyronn Lue‘s game plans.

“It’s just what I said before, we’ve been kind of winning off talent,” Kawhi Leonard said after the Clippers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves last night (2/12). “When you’re playing better teams, teams are in the passing lane. Those isolation shots are — those misses get louder. So, like coach was saying, we got to do a better job of listening to him and trying to execute. … I don’t think it’s a wake-up call game. I think there’s going to be games like this moving forward as well.”

The Clippers signed Leonard to a three-year, $149 million extension in January. LAC has never been to the NBA Finals in franchise history. It will be fascinating to see if Leonard, Paul George, James Harden and Russell Westbrook can change that this season.

Leonard has career averages of 19.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Clippers. He has made six All-Star teams, five All-NBA teams and seven All-Defensive teams.

Leonard has also won two Defensive Player of the Year Awards. He was named one of the best 75 players in NBA history in 2022.
