According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and former NBA guard JJ Redick are starting a basketball podcast.
The podcast will be called “Mind the Game.”
“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick said. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”
Added LeBron: “I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media. … When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”
The first show will debut Tuesday (3/17) and is expected to be weekly, running 45 minutes to an hour per episode. It will be available on YouTube and all podcast platforms. There will be other guests on some of the shows.
“The way he talks about the game, the way he communicates the game, it’s beautiful,” Redick said about LeBron.
A 20-time All-Star, LeBron is arguably the greatest player in NBA history. He’s first all time in points, second in field goals, fourth in assists, ninth in steals, fifth in triple-doubles, seventh in points per game, third in player efficiency rating and eighth in 3-point field goals.
LeBron is the only player in NBA history to rank top five all-time in both points and assists. He’s also the only player to have at least 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 career assists.
LeBron has won one championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, two with the Miami Heat and one with the Lakers. He’s the only player in NBA history to win three Finals MVPs with three different franchises.
LeBron is the only player in NBA history to score 40,000 career points. He accomplished that feat this season.
Despite being the oldest player (39) in the league, LeBron is still a dominant force. He’s averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists this season.
