Austin Reaves Day-To-Day After MRI Reveals No Serious Injury

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves will be day-to-day after an MRI revealed no serious injury.

Reaves is dealing with right calf soreness.

Reaves is averaging 19.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists for the Lakers this season while shooting 44.7% from the field, 36.2% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free-throw line.

Los Angeles is 37-21 on the season, good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

The Lakers acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks for Anthony Davis and Max Christie in February. Doncic is 5-2 with Los Angeles.

Doncic appeared in 422 games with Dallas. He averaged 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists and made five All-Star teams and five All-NBA teams.

According to NBA reporter Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, Doncic has alternated between shock, sadness and anger since the Mavericks traded him to the Lakers.

“Those close to him say he has alternated between shock, sadness and anger in the weeks since the trade,” Shelburne wrote. “Every day that he goes home to the Los Angeles hotel he’s living in with his fiancée and young daughter is a reminder of how much his life has been upended.”

The Lakers look like title contenders with Doncic, Reaves and LeBron James leading the way. They are 16th in the NBA in points per game, 10th in points per game allowed, 11th in offensive rating, 13th in defensive rating and 13th in net rating.

LeBron (40) is the oldest player in the league. However, he’s still playing at an elite level, averaging 24.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists.

“I thought he (LeBron) would look washed this season,” an NBA scout told Hoops Wire. “I was completely wrong about LeBron. He looks incredible. He has a good shot at making first-team All-NBA. It’s remarkable how he’s still doing this. I thought his age and (left) foot would catch up to him and I didn’t think he would mesh with JJ (Redick). They clearly have something special brewing between them.”
