Offseason trade proposal sends Devin Booker to Rockets, Jalen Green to Suns

One NBA analyst proposed that the Houston Rockets trade Jalen Green to the Phoenix Suns for Devin Booker this offseason.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Rockets and Suns:

Phoenix Suns receive: Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., Cam Whitmore and two first-round picks

Houston Rockets receive: Devin Booker

“The Suns are in dire need of an organizational overhaul, and few teams are better equipped to provide the tools needed to make that change than the Rockets,” Buckley wrote. “Green, Smith and Whitmore all have building-block potential, and if the return is Booker, Houston might be willing to return one or both of the two future firsts it owns from Phoenix.”

Booker is one of the best shooting guards in the NBA. He’s averaging 25.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.0 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 46.0% from the field, 33.7% from beyond the arc and 89.6% from the free-throw line.

“The Rockets still might be an established star away from a Phase 3 launch into full-fledged title contention,” Buckley wrote. “Green has yet to strike the ideal volume-efficiency balance, and Smith seems like he’s settling in as a complementary piece. Booker may not be having his best season, but he obviously has the skills and stature to seize control of this attack and push it toward the top five.”

Green is one of the most athletic players in the NBA. He’s averaging 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Rockets this season while shooting 42.7% overall, 35.5% from 3 and 81.1% from the free-throw line.

Booker will make $53,142,264 next season, $57,078,728 in 2026-27 and $61,015,192 in 2027-28, the final year of his contract. The four-time All-Star has career averages of 24.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists.

Green will make $33,333,333 next season and $36,000,000 in 2026-27. He has a player option worth $36,000,000 for the 2027-28 season.

Green has career averages of 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
