The Houston Rockets have agreed to acquire NBA legend Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.

The Rockets are trading Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th pick in this year’s draft and five second-round picks to the Suns for Durant.

Not only did Houston trade for Durant, but the franchise also still has enough assets to make a compelling offer to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks will not trade Antetokounmpo unless the forward requests a trade.

Antetokounmpo, 30, hasn’t done that yet.

One of the top players in the NBA, Antetokounmpo guided the Bucks to the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.

Since then, Milwaukee has won only one postseason series.

The Bucks have lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs two years in a row.

Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed the superstar swingman to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.

One of the best players in the NBA, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks for the Bucks this season while shooting 60.1% from the field and 61.7% from the free-throw line. He made the All-NBA First Team.

Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. He has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.

The Rockets made the playoffs this year for the first time since 2020. They lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in seven games.

After trading for Durant, Houston — led by head coach Ime Udoka — now has a core of Durant, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams.
