Report: Heat Exploring Trades For Andrew Wiggins

According to NBA insiders Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald, the Miami Heat are exploring trades for Andrew Wiggins.

The Heat acquired Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors in the blockbuster Jimmy Butler trade.

“The Heat is believed to be exploring trades for veteran forward Andrew Wiggins, who was acquired by Miami in February as part of the Jimmy Butler deal,” Jackson and Chiang wrote. “Wiggins has two seasons left on his contract, as he’s due $28.2 million this upcoming season and has a $30.2 million player option in the 2026-27 season.”

Wiggins was the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him but traded the talented small forward to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Kevin Love trade. 

The 30-year-old Wiggins has played for the Timberwolves, Warriors and Heat. He has career averages of 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists. 

Wiggins put up 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game with the Warriors and Heat this season while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 76.3% from the free-throw line. 

The Heat were swept by the Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. 

Wiggins will make $28.2 million next season. He has a player option worth $30.2 million for the 2026-27 season. 

A Kansas product, Wiggins won the 2014-15 Rookie of the Year Award with the Timberwolves and the 2022 championship with the Warriors. He made his lone All-Star team in 2022 with Golden State. 

The Heat haven’t won a championship since 2013. They made the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023 with Butler, losing both times.
