Report: Suns expected to move on from Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal this offseason

According to NBA insider John Gambadoro, the Phoenix Suns are expected to move on from Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal this offseason.

Durant will make $54.7 million next season in the final year of his contract, while Beal has a no-trade clause.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, Durant was open to getting traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs at this year’s trade deadline.

Those same teams, along with the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, are expected to pursue Durant this offseason, an NBA source told Hoops Wire.

Durant turns 37 in September. He’s averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

Durant, currently out with an ankle injury, has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

Beal, currently out with a hamstring injury, has appeared in 48 games this season. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 50.5% from the field, 39.5% from beyond the arc and 81.3% from the free-throw line.

The Suns tried to trade Beal at this year’s trade deadline, but the veteran wasn’t open to waiving his no-trade clause.

Beal will make $53.6 million next season. He has a player option worth $57.1 million for the 2026-27 season.

The Florida product, who has played for the Washington Wizards and Suns, told ESPN that a trade involving him is easier to make this offseason.

“It is a different deal in the summer,” Beal said. “Everything is kind of more laid out on the table. You got more options.”
