Offseason trade proposal sends Kevin Durant to Heat

One NBA writer proposed that the Miami Heat acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns this offseason.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Heat and Suns:

Miami Heat Receive: F Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns Receive: F/C Kel’el Ware, G Terry Rozier, F Duncan Robinson, 2025 first-round pick (top-10 protected via Golden State Warriors), 2031 first-round pick (unprotected)

“Miami and Phoenix were already discussing Kevin Durant deals at last month’s deadline according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst, talks that could be revisited this summer,” Swartz wrote. “Pairing Durant alongside Bam Adebayo and All-Star guard Tyler Herro would make the Heat a threat in the East once again, especially with players like Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kyle Anderson, Nikola Jović, Haywood Highsmith, Kevin Love and others balancing out the roster. The Suns recoup a pair of first-round picks and should be thrilled to acquire Ware, one of the top rookies in the 2024 class.”

Durant will make $54.7 million next season in the final year of his contract.

The Suns are expected to consult Durant on any trade discussions involving him this offseason.

Phoenix is widely expected to trade Durant this offseason. The team has struggled this season, compiling a record of only 35-37.

If the season ended today, Durant and the Suns would be in the play-in tournament.

One of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Durant is averaging 26.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists this season while shooting 52.8% from the field, 42.6% from beyond the arc and 83.4% from the free-throw line.

According to NBA insiders Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Durant was open to getting traded to the Heat at this year’s trade deadline.

It will be fascinating to see where KD is playing next season.

Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.
